More Workers Failing Drug Tests
June 18, 2015
Hundreds of Wellington workers and jobseekers are being caught with illegal drugs in their system, and more than 80 per cent of them are testing positive for cannabis.
The Drug Detection Agency conducted more than 100,000 tests last year on jobseekers and employees in industries including construction, forestry, meatworks, manufacturing, mining, transport, and fishing.
Its latest figures show 5.7 per cent of all its drug tests were positive for illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and synthetic cannabis last year, which represented an increase of 0.4 per cent on 2013.
