A Petone importer and manufacturer has been fined $24,375 and ordered to pay reparation of $17,500 after a worker had four fingers amputated by a wood cutting machine while at work.
There were several factors that contributed to the accident including the lack of machine guarding and training.
It's very important to ensure that your workers are trained in the use of equipment and machinery and that training records are kept up to date.
